Disappointed lately – quality has dropped I used to love Toyar’s BBQ & HOTPOT Restaurant, but unfortunately, the quality has noticeably declined over the past few months. My recent visits have been a mixed bag. A few times, the BBQ skewers were so tough and overcooked that they were hard to chew, and the chicken skewers had a strange, gamey smell. The fried rice was clumpy and sticky instead of being fluffy, and the dry-fried green beans didn't taste very authentic. I really hope the management can look into these issues and improve the food quality control, as I’d love to come back and enjoy it like I used to.

We visit Toyar’s BBQ & Hotpot (客串江湖) regularly and it consistently delivers. The food is delicious, the service is superb, and there is plenty of parking available. We recently brought a party of 6 and were seated immediately with no wait. Food & Flavor: The Hits: The Skewers are a must (eat them while hot!), the Lanzhou Beef Noodles have a great chew, and the Fried Pork with powdered seasoning is excellent. Portions: The Chili Fish is delicious but the portion is massive—definitely a dish meant for sharing. The Spice Meter: Be sure to check the spice levels on the menu or ask your server. You can usually adjust the heat, but it’s best to confirm before ordering if you are sensitive to spice. Customization: Some dishes, like the scallops with glass noodles or the century egg, felt a bit light on salt for my taste. Fortunately, they have a full spice/sauce bar where you can customize the flavors to your liking. Value & Atmosphere: Price: Expect to spend between $30–$50 per person. Our hungry group of six averaged about $50 each, and we left very satisfied. Hot Pot: It’s solid, though strictly in terms of value, it may not compete with the All-You-Can-Eat spots nearby. The grilled skewers are packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and truly capture the authentic “jianghu” street-food style. The hotpot broth is rich and comforting, making this the perfect spot whether you’re craving BBQ, hotpot, or both. There’s a great variety of options—beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, and plenty of tasty small dishes. Portions are generous and everything tastes fresh. The staff are friendly, attentive, and the service is quick. The restaurant is clean, bright, and ideal for family dinners, gatherings with friends, or anyone wanting a fun dining experience. Prices run around $30–50, and considering the quality and variety, it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy flavorful skewers and a satisfying hotpot meal!

Toyar serves solid food. The Chinese skewers hit the spot and reminded me of being back in deep Northeast China, where street smoke and spice fill the air and everything tastes like it came straight off a charcoal dream. The large lamb skewers and squid skewers were especially good, well seasoned and a little on the sweeter side, but still easy on the palate. Not everything on the menu feels worth the splurge. Ten dollars for a single grilled oyster feels like a luxury experiment gone wrong, but if you know what to order, you can definitely eat well without emptying your wallet. If I could change one thing, I’d ask for extra seasoning on the side. It would be nice to tweak the flavor and get that perfect balance of spice and salt that Chinese skewers are all about. Still, skewers are skewers, and having them beats not having them any day. Ordering was impressively easy. A quick QR scan and food appeared like magic. I appreciate the minimal small talk required. All in all, I think I enjoyed the food. And yes, I’ll be back for another taste of that Northeastern nostalgia.

This is my new favorite place! The food is very authentic and it reminds me of the time I spent living in China. The锅包肉 aka sweet and sour pork is as good as anything I’ve had in China, and the large lamb skewers are on point. My wife is also Chinese and loves this place, especially the cold noodles. We literally eat here a few times a month now. Great find!!!
